Kickstart rentals is owned by Kickstart Youth Centre.  All the profits go back into supporting vulnerable rangatahi in the Upper Hutt Community.

  • Unfortunately Kickstart Rentals is unable to drop off vehicles to customers.  Our business model relies on pickups from our location on Ward Street in Upper Hutt.  You get a good price, and organise your own way to pick up the vehicle, while supporting an incredible initiative.

  • We have a secure pickup and drop off location for keys for vehicles.  The details of which will be emailed to you in the week of your hire, so you know how to access the keys and from what location.

  • In the unfortunate event of an accident, please get the contact details for any other party involved in the accident (including witnesses) take photos of the accident site, and damage to the vehicle and let Kickstart rentals know.  On your return you will need to complete a claim form for our insurance.  If the vehicle is undriveable, please contact Kickstart Rentals so a replacement vehicle can be arranged.

  • For all rental vehicle hires 4 days and over unlimited kms are included.  For rental vehicle hires of 1 to 3 days, 200km is travel is included in the hire price.  Additional kms travelled are charged at 28c per km. 

  • Kickstart rental vehicles are serviced every 10,000km, and are kept up to COF rental standard 100% of the time.  It is very rare for us to have a breakdown.  In the instance that you do breakdown, call us and we will sort a replacement vehicle for you.

  • As you will see our rates are some of the cheapest all inclusive rates in the country.  If you are looking at a long term, extended hire or regular hires, please get in touch with the details and we can see what we can do.

    • Like most rental companies a bond or deposit is generally required for hires.  This is $200 - $500 for most vehicles.   The deposit requirement may be waived for regular repeat customers. 
    • Method: Deposits must be processed on a valid credit card or Visa/Mastercard debit card, bank deposit or in cash (prearranged for collection onsite).
    • Purpose: The bond covers potential issues like fuel shortages, damage excesses, or extra distance traveled.
